Dementia Care FAQ – Index

There is no manual for this. Nobody hands you a guide when the appointment is made, or the diagnosis is confirmed, or the care home has been chosen. The questions come anyway, late at night, between meetings, in the car park outside the hospital. This is where they get answered.
152 questions across six stages of the dementia care pathway. Each one is placed where it is most useful, not by topic, but by where you are likely to ask it. Find your stage. Start there.
Stage 3: Increased Support
You're doing more than you should have to. That's the reality.
13 QuestionsStage 4: Researching Care Homes
This is the hardest decision. It deserves the best information.
31 QuestionsStage 5: Settling In
The move has happened. Now comes the waiting, the watching, and the wondering.
20 QuestionsThese pages are organised by stage because the questions that matter at Stage 1 are not the questions that matter at Stage 4. A question about signs and symptoms belongs at the beginning. A question about care home funding belongs where families are actually facing it. Placing every question on a single page, in alphabetical order, would be accurate and useless. This structure is designed to find you where you are, not to make you search for yourself within it.
If you are not sure which stage you are at, start with Stage 1. Most people arrive here earlier than they think. The questions at the beginning are not just for the beginning, they are the ones that shape every decision that follows.
